PREPARATIONS for the Marovo Open Championship (MOC) are intensifying with all eyes on the attractive cash prizes totalling $78,000 up for grabs.
Coordinator of the MOC Dekon Kuong said teams with in Marovo Lagoon have stepped up their training sessions daily with the aim to walk away with the hefty cash prizes of the three proposed sports namely volleyball, netball and soccer seven-a-side.
“Teams and players in Marovo Lagoon are seriously engaged into intensive trainings since MOC was confirmed to be staged at Bisuana sports ground in Marovo Lagoon, Western province from 27th June to July 6th,’’ he said.
He said with the huge amount of cash prizes up for grab, MOC teams are also impatient and longing for the competition to start.
He also said serval teams in Honiara are confirmed to go down and join the competition.
“Several popular teams in Honiara have already indicated to me that they will join the competition,’’ he said.
“I have also received information from Roviana that they are also preparing for MOC tournament,’’ he said.
He also extended the invitation to other teams in Honiara and as well as other provinces who wish to join the competition to contact him.
Meanwhile, MOC co-sponsor Our Telekom will decorate the Bisuana playing ground with the promotional products.
“Apart from our sponsorship, we will brand the playing ground with the branding that we used in recent Western Cup in Gizo,’’ Our Telekom Marketing Manager Robert Szetu said.
He also stressed Our Telekom are excited to support MOC with their products to be used for consolation prizes in the tournament.
“This is our first time to support sports in Marovo and Our Telekom is very proud to be co-support of the tournament.
