TWELVE franchise football clubs played their opening matches to mark the start of the Telekom S-league (TSL) 2022/2023 season at the Lawson Tama Stadium over the weekend.
Solomon Warriors FC was the first to register the first three points of the season, defeating Honiara City FC 4-2.
The season’s second match saw Henderson Eels FC defeated Kula FC 7-1 to sit at the top of the TSL table.
Eels young striker Raphael Lea’i marked his return to the new season with five goals.
Defending champions Central Coast defeated KOSSA FC 5-3 in Saturday’s final match.
Sunday’s matches saw Real Kakamora FC came from a goal down to beat FC Isabel United 3-1.
Kurukuru’s Coleman Makau scored a brace and a goal by Lawrence Moli for Kakamora’s third goal.
FC Isabel United’s new signing Richard Gore their lone goal.
Marist FC defeated Southern United FC 1-0, the only goal was scored by Marist captain Jerry Allan Jnr.
The final match on Sunday featured Waneagu FC and Laugu FC, a match described as the toughest match played so far.
Laugu displayed an impressive performance with only 10 men to hold off a determined Waneagu side with a 2-1 win.
Dickson Magi broke the deadlock 17 minutes from kick off to give Laugu a 1-0 lead.
Waneagu FC hit back with the equalizer by Atana Fa’arodo seconds away before the half time break.
Laugu had to continue with 10 men in the second half but did not stop their quest for another goal which came from Moffat Kilifa.
Matches will continue this weekend.
