HONIARA City Mayor Alfrence Fatai will be sentenced mid next month
The magistrate’s court decided August 16 as the sentencing date after the completion of sentencing submissions and mitigation on Tuesday before Deputy Chief Magistrate Shepherd Lapo.
The city mayor was charged with one count of attempted bribery in relation to an incident in May this year.
He tried to bribe an officer at the Henderson Police Station after he was arrested for a traffic incident.
The officer however refused to accept the $200 cash bribe offer and reported the matter.
Fatai and his female co-accused had early this month paid a total fine of $3,000 for the traffic offences.
He is represented by L & L Lawyers while Public Prosecutor Olivia Ratu is representing the State.
