Honiara City Mayor Eddie Siapu is urging city residences and business houses to comply with orders given by the Prime Minister under the State of Public Emergency.
This follows the COVID outbreak and the lockdown imposed for 4 days in the capital starting this evening.
Mayor Siapu in an issued statement said the orders are clear and there is no need for officers to continuously remind people to comply.
He appeals to residents to practice basic hygiene and comply with COVID 19 protocols by wearing face masks, practicing social distancing and only move around the city with genuine reasons.
A call is also made to the public to report any goods or produces selling at unreasonable high prices to the authorities.
Siapu urged everyone to support the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the Government to contain the spread of the virus, by obeying measures and protocols imposed.
