Students, teachers and parents of Mbokonavera Community High School (CHS) in Central Honiara successfully staged their annual graduation and prize giving day on Thursday.
The event held at the St. Barnabas Cathedral Hall was marked based on the theme: ‘Strive for better future through Education.’
School Principal Agnes Te’e reflected on the key message from the Graduation theme for this year and urging students to be good citizens and strive to be good leaders for the nation and the future.
“Remember the theme for today reminds you to get yourself intact; apply your best for your graduation and examinations. And certainly, you will be a memorable model of inspiration in the years to come.
“Remember to always make the ending a success story, inspirational and a memorable one,” she said.
Ms Te’e reminded the students that they must not forget that they are a student of Mbokonavera CHS in the campus and out of it as well.
“Your behaviour, good or bad, will be a reflection on the name of the school.
“Always manifest your good training by polite manners, respecting alike, whether lady, gentlemen, girl or boy.
“Remember that you are an ambassador of your school always and everywhere” Principal Te’e said.
She took her time to also congratulate the graduating students and prize award recipients of 2024 and encouraged them to put more efforts in their studies.
“Have faith and belief in yourself and strive for excellence.
“Don’t give up, aim high and the sky should be the limit,” she said.
“As we come to the close of the academic year, I learnt that your academic journey this year has been very challenging for you.
“However, throughout the year you have been rising and shining above these challenges.
“You have been saying to yourself that you can make it. Yes, the fact that you are about to cross the finishing line, certainly you will make it,” the school principal said.
She added that finishing line must be a success story. The finishing line is marked by two things.
“Your graduation and your examinations.
“The graduation is a common goal and the examinations can be perceived as an individual goal.
“So, treat both to be equally important,” Mrs. Te’e added.
Guest of Honour, Dr. John Iromea, Director National Training Unit (NTU) of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, Simon Rilaua, Chairman of the school board and school principals and school leaders from various schools have attended the ceremony.
Most of the students will sit for their exams this week.
