Solomon Islands Athletics team who participated at the recent Oceania Athletics Championship returned home on Sunday.
Among the 10 athletes were three of the medalists, Patrick Kam, Sharon Firisua and Diana Matekali.
The team was welcomed by members of the Athletics Solomon, family and friends upon arrival.
National long distance queen Sharon Firisua won two medals, a gold medal in the 10,000m and a bronze in the Women 5000m senior finals, finishing behind Hannah Miller of New Zealand and Audrey Hall of Australia.
Sharon not only won goal but set a new national record with a time of 37:54.60.
She also holds the OAA Championship record of 39:06.25.
Finishing second behind Sharon is Dianah Matekali, another Solomon Islander.
In the men’s category Patrick Kam won silver in the men’s 5000m race and silver in the men’s 10000m race.
Solomon Islands other top runner, Rosefelo Siosi finished sixth in the final heat.
