TEAM Solomon weightlifting team has won the country’s first medals in the Pacific Mini Games weightlifting competition in Saipan, Northern Mariannas yesterday.
The weightlifting team yesterday won three gold medals, two bronze medals and four silver medals.
Top female weightlifter Jenly Wini Tegu led the way scooping three gold medals in the women’s 55kg category Snatch, Clean and Jerk and the overall 55kg class.
Rowena Donga won Silver in the women’s 49kg category’s snatch, Bronze in the Clean and Jerk and Bronze in the overall 49kg class.
Philip Masi settled for three silver medals in the men’s 55kg class.
Today will see five other weightlifters compete in the men’s and women’s 67kg category, 59kg category and 64kg category.
The last weightlifter, Leslie Mae will compete tomorrow for the men’s 89kg category.
