THE Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD) has acknowledged all teachers in the country for their contribution in educating students nationwide.
MEHRD said the determination and service of teachers, especially during the crucial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, was commendable.
“We want to thank you all the teachers in Solomon Islands for your contribution to educate children in Solomon Islands and your determination and service, especially during the critical stages of the COVID-19 pandemic,” the ministry said.
It said teachers are a valuable resource for Solomon Islands and through the Solomon Islands Education Sector Support Programme (ESSP), they were proud to have launched a first-ever series of Tok Stori and Planning Workshops supporting Education Authorities (EA’s) to collectively achieve the 2023 National Education Action Plan (NEAP,) including an improved teacher management process.
MHRD said a highlight of the recent Tok Stori and Planning Workshop held from September 13 to 19 September this year that brought together 30 EA senior managers across Solomon Islands was the introduction of OpenEMIS by MEHRD with ESSP support.
The OpenEMIS is a tool that allows EA’s to easily manage and access accurate information to better support schools, students, and teachers in Solomon Islands, to enhance teaching and learning outcomes for students in Year 1 to 9.
The OpenEMIS will improve decentralised service delivery of education in Solomon Islands, previously managed centrally by MEHRD.
MEHRD’s leadership in improving standards for teachers and school management is supported by the Solomon Islands Education Sector Support Programme – a partnership between the Governments of Solomon Islands, Australia and New Zealand.
