FORMER Waneagu United striker Ali Mekawir has found the back of the net again for TFA Dubai, this time against China-U23 national team in a friendly match on Friday.
The goal was TFA Dubai’s lone goal in the 4-1 match in favour of the Chine U-23 squad.
The Chinese U23 team is preparing towards the Asian Games and unfortunately for Mekawir’s side, the match ended up in a 4-1 win for the Chinese;
Despite the defeat, this is yet another achievement for the 22-year-old lad from Temotu who has already made history turning himself into the first ever Solomon Islander to score a goal in English FA Cup whilst in England with the Royals Academy players.
Mekawir has had a wealth of experience from his previous clubs, mainly abroad and his time with the Solomon Islands national men’s football team in the FIFA OFC World Cup qualifying tournament in Qatar last year.
Mekawir’s ongoing fine performances have booked him a place in the recently released provisional squad announced by Coach Felipe Vega Arango last week.
The provisional squad is currently in preparation for the upcoming friendly matches.
