The Health Minister, Dr. Paul Bosawai; Chair of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Hon. Morris Toiraena; and health officials on Saturday made a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of MIOT International Hospital, Dr. Prithvi Mohandas, in Chennai, India.
During the courtesy visit, Health Minister Hon. Bosawai thanked MIOT International for the invitation to MIOT International’s 26th Founders Day celebrations, scheduled for this Wednesday, 12th February, 2025. Also, with the opportunity given for the delegation to visit MIOT International Hospital and experience the quality of care and services offered by MIOT International.
“As you know, a few of our patients have received treatment here in your hospital. They include Honourable speaker of Solomon Islands National Parliament and one of our high court judges. This is because we do not have these highly specialized health care services in our country and that it is extremely costly to access these services in neighbouring countries, like Australia, for instance.
“The quality of care received by our patients who were treated here and the fact that your hospital also offers some of these specialist care services in Fiji, which is 2 hours by plane from us, present us with a real opportunity for a formal partnership between MIOT and our National Referral Hospital,” said Dr. Bosawai
Therefore, he stated his team is eager to discuss with the director and his staff and visit MIOT.
“We hope this visit will pave the way for more bilateral discussions between our respective clinical staff and how the collaboration can best work,” Dr. Bosawai said.
Dr. Prithvi Mohandas, MIOT International Hospital Managing Director, welcomed and thanked the Health Minister and his delegation for visiting MOIT and pledged his support for further discussions on the NRH and MIOIT International Hospital relationship.
Meanwhile, after the courtesy visit, the health minister and his team had the privilege to visit MIOT International Hospital and received firsthand information on the types of services and best care the hospital provides from the hospital’s specialist.
