..To support SIFF ‘IUMI PLAY’ Grassroots Football Program
A historical Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support Grassroots Football Program ‘IUMI PLAY’ worth a million dollar was sealed yesterday.
Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) and Solomon Power signed this historical deal in Auki, Malaita Province.
The MOU signing took place at the APS field and was witnessed by the Malaita Provincial Government, Solomon Power, SIFF, Malaita Football Association, Guadalcanal Football Association (GFA) and other stakeholders.
The signing of the deal will see Solomon Power sponsors the ‘IUMI PLAY’ program worth SBD $1-million for a period of one year.
The deal is subject to renewal.
Speaking during the signing of the MOU, SIFF President William Lai said he is very happy to sign the MOU with Solomon Power to start the program, which was initiated by SIFF.
The excited SIFF boss said the ‘IUMI PLAY ‘program is targeting children between the age ranges between 7 to 11 in all provinces throughout the country.
He said the program is the foundation for soccer development in the country moving forward as it targets young children to become exceptional football players representing the country in the future.
He said following the development of the IUMI PLAY plan, SIFF finds it difficult to find corporate sponsors to kick start the program.
“And this is where Solomon Power steps in and offers to sponsor the program,” he said.
The SIFF president thanked Solomon Power CEO Donald Kiriau and Chairman Board Solomon Power David Kwan for accepting and approving SIFF’s proposal, which resulted in the signing.
The SIFF President also thanked Malaita Province for hosting the historical MOU signing.
