The Indonesian mining firm Bintang Borneo would upgraded the road links between Tingoa to Lake Tegano on East Rennell once they kick off their initial operations.
Premier of Renbel province Lence Tangosia revealed this to Solomon Star in an interview yesterday.
Mr Tangosia said the mining company has agreed to upgrade the road during a recent trip by the mining officials last week to the province.
“We discuss with the company and landowners and they have both agreed to this proposed plan.
“So an actual work of this proposed road upgrade should be start anytime as soon as this mining firm settles down in Honiara,’’ Mr Tangosia said.
Mr Tangosia added his people are pleased about the proposed development to connect people from west and east Rennell.
“We lack proper road link from west to east Rennell in the past thus this new agreement would alleviate our road setback facing on the island.
“Since this mining firm agree, my government is indeed glad to have this investor come support and improve poor infrastructure development in the province,” he said.
Meanwhile nine directors of Indonesian mining firm are currently in Honiara along with Renbel provincial government at Heritage Park Hotel.
