Indonesian mining firm Bintang Borneo will financially assist Renbel provincial government with the extension of the Tingoa airstrip runway.
Renbel province premier Lence Tangosian revealed this to Solomon Star yesterday.
Mr Tango who led the mining delegation to Rennell Island and held talks with the landowners last week said the company agreed to assist the province with the extension of the runway after talks last week.
“This is one of the very big achievements for our province this mining firm will offer.”
The assurance was made last week during meeting held between landowners and the company.
Mr Tangosia said the firm will provide funds towards the project to ensure bigger aircrafts could land.
“We don’t want to spend more time talking about development, but we want to see things happening so that development can happen fast.
“Therefore since this mining firm shows interest of support, the province will accept this offer to assist us extend Tingoa airstrip,” he said.
Meanwhile Mr Tango thanked mining firm offer their supports and wiliness to assist provincial government.
He thanked the company for seeing the need and the challenges faced by the province.
He also appealed to his people to support the company and his government to ensure something tangible is happening in the province.
