THE Minister for Culture and Tourism, Choylin Yim Douglas has told the eight contestants of the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP) 2025 that each of them had demonstrated exceptional grace, intelligence and a deep commitment to ensuring a brighter future for their respective country and the wider Pacific Islands region.
Delivering her welcome address at the MPIP2025 Crowning Night on Saturday at the Friendship Hall in East Honiara, Minister Douglas said regardless of the outcome that would eventuate, all the contestants are winners and are the torch-bearers of the Pacific Islands cultures, voices of the Pacific communities and leaders of tomorrow.
“Remember that regardless of tonight’s outcome, you are all winners. You are the torchbearers of our cultures, the voices of our communities and the leaders of tomorrow. Carry that pride with you wherever you go.”
Minister Douglas said, the crowning night was not just about the crowning of a title holder, but a celebration of courage, resilience and the incredible journey that each of the contestants have embarked upon.
She said each of the young woman demonstrated exceptional grace, intelligence and a deep commitment and have shared their hopes, dreams and visions for a brighter future, reminding all else of the power of purpose and passion.
“As we prepare to crown our new Miss Pacific Islands, let us reflect on the significance of this moment. This title represents not just beauty, but also the strength of character and willingness to advocate for change.
“It symbolises our commitment to uplift our communities, promote cultural heritage and to inspire others to embrace their unique identities.
“As we move forward to the crowning moment, let us celebrate not only the winner but the incredible spirit of the Pacific that unites us all.
“May the new Miss Pacific inspire us all to embrace our differences, advocate for our values and work together for a sustainable and equitable future. So let us cherish this moment and look forward to the brighter future that lies ahead,” Minister Douglas said.
Minister Douglas also expressed gratitude to the audience for their unwavering support, saying it signifies the importance of community solidarity, which can foster an empowering environment for women to pursue their dreams and lead with confidence.
Meanwhile, Miss Samoa Litara Ieremia-Allan is the new Miss Pacific Islands, succeeding her country woman Miss Moemoana Schwenke.
