MINISTER for Ministry Culture and Tourism (MCT) has successfully visited four constituencies in Malaita Province last week.
They included Aoke/Langalanga, North Malaita,Baegu/Asifola and Lau/Baelelea Constituencies.
Bartholomew Parapolo was accompanied by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary (PS) John Wasi, Tourism Director Barney Sivoro, Chief Executive Officer )CEO) for Solomon Island Visitors Bureau (SIVB) Josefa Tuamoto, SIVB Board Chairman Wilson Ne’e, an officer from Ausaid, tourism consultant Andrew Nihopara and three seniors Ministry officers.
Mr Parapolo following his tour told the Solomon Star that he was happy indeed to be able to visit Malaita provinces especially the four constituencies.
“This is part of DCC Government’s approach to make sure the Ministry must reach the people in rural areas since they are the biggest contributor to the country’s economy.
“The aim of visiting thisconstituencies was to help my Ministry work closely with the operators and identifythe best potential sites that my Ministry will work closely with them and support them,” Mr Parapolo said.
He however thanked operators in each constituency during last week’s tour.
“As the Minister responsible for tourism, I would like to thank all operators who have worked very hard in contributing to the tourism industry and to prepare for the visit last week.
“I would like to thank them for their effort and sacrifice despite the bad weather and challenges being faces.The tour was very successfully,” Mr Parapolo said.
Its understood the next provincial tour will be to Renbel province soon.
