Prime Minister (PM) Jeremiah Manele has officially endorsed the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Peter Shanel Agovaka, to lead the Solomon Islands delegation at the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Apia, Samoa.
The meeting is scheduled to take place from October 25–26.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Prime Minister Manele expressed full confidence in Minister Agovaka’s ability to represent the Solomon Islands.
He explained that his own absence is due to several pressing domestic issues, including preparations for the upcoming parliamentary session.
“The budget process takes precedence over any overseas trip, even one as important as CHOGM,” said PM Manele.
“I will be writing to my colleague, the Prime Minister of Samoa, Fiamē Naomi Mataʻafa, to explain my absence and wish her well in hosting the meeting.”
CHOGM will bring together delegations from 56 nations across Africa, the Caribbean, the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific.
The meeting aims to strengthen multilateral cooperation, explore new opportunities, and address shared challenges for the benefit of future generations.
