THE MINISTRY of health and medical services together with its donors partners, Red Cross and other helping non-government organization (NGOs) have acknowledged all the blood donors.
Director of medical laboratory at the National Referral Hospital Alfred Dofai said the ministry and its donor partners are really pleased and appreciate all blood donors for their sacrifice commitment in saving other people’s lives in the country.
To acknowledge the donors certificates of appreciation were awarded to them during the world blood donors day on Tuesday.
Mr. Dofai described blood donation as a gift of life that freely donated by people who have sympathy for others.
“You are my hero, my life giver of second change in living to patient who needed them. Thank you blood donors,” Mr. Dofai said.
He said blood is a need that use to treat people who are short of blood when they undergo operations, Anaemic, mothers during delivery/caesarian and patients show suffer from major accidents.
Over the past months the ministry had worked together with Red Cross Solomon island, DFAT and other NGOs, promoting blood donation program in the country.
Last year the ministry managed to collect only 3,526 blood donors which is less to total request of 4,500 units.
