Contestant number five – Miss Lauru- Elsie Polosovai has been crowned the Miss Solomon Islands 2024-2025.
The crowning was held around 1am tonight after hours of various performances by each of the contestants.
Miss Lauru won a number of awards during tonight’s presentation which includes; Speech, Talent, Traditional attire, One on One Question&Interview and Social Media mosted voted contestant.
Acting Prime Minister Bradley Tovosia was the guest of honor at the crowning night who presented all the awards to the contestants.
Acting PM was also acknowledged for sponsoring most of the prizes worth $41, 000.
Speaking after receiving the crown from the former the Miss Solomon Islands Tiare Haro, Miss Lauru expressed her humbleness to take over the crown and represent Solomon Islands.
“I’m humble to be part of this event and I will do my best to represent SI at the Pacific stage and to carry the pride of Solomon Islands everywhere I go.”
She also thanked the Lauru Community for taking her onboard and being her sponsor.
She also thanked Solomon Hosts for hosting the event which allowed the contestants to come together and talk about issues that matters.
She also congratulated the other five contestants for participating in the competition.
“Thanks for all the support to the you have given to us.”
The ladies nearly two months together to prepare for the event.
Each of the contestants took time to thank the organisers, sponsors, support team, families and the public for their support over the past months until the crowning night.
Winner – Miss Lauru
1st runners up– Miss Tourism
2nd runners up – Coral Sea/Casino
3rd runners up -Miss Tulagi
4th runners up – SICAN
5th runners up – Miss Guadalcanal
Miss Solomon Islands will represent the country during next year’s Pacific Island Queen contest in Honiara.
Her mother also witnessed the crowning night.
Meanwhile, theres celebration for many supporters of Miss Lauru in the country and abroad.
Reports said, there is also celebration even in Choiseul and parts of Western province.
From New Zealand Trixy Teikaiho Ibnul of PMNSolomonon has congratulated the country’s new Miss Solomon Islands as well.
“Knowing Elsie as an individual, she is a hard working youth who carry her culture with pride and dignity, very down to earth, loving, caring and above all have so much respect for her family, Solomon Islands community, culture and country.
“Polosovai had involved in alot of Pacific events here in New Zealand especially in Auckland and also in Dunedin, involved in short films where she expressed herself in characters that depicted much pf what some of our Solomon Islands students and youths had been through.
“As Solomon Islands Auckland Wantok Association (SIAWA) community, we want to congratulate our Elsie Polosovai!,” Trixy said in a statement.
Many have woke up till 1am to wait for the results to be announced.
