NEWLY crowned Miss Solomon Islands Camilla Grossmith and her delegation left Honiara last Saturday to compete in the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant in Samoa.
The trip was made possible with the support of various companies, organizations and individuals during at fundraising drive at the Yacht Club.
One of the companies’ that offered support during the fundraising was Our Telekom.
Our Telekom chief executive officer Loyley Ngira presented a Samsung S7 Edge phone to Miss Solomon Islands fundraising drive at the Yacht Club, which was won by Jill Ladu for $6000.
This was the second time Our Telekom pledged support by donating mobile phones to Miss Solomon Islands journey towards the Miss Pacific Islands.
Our Telekom believed their assistance reflected the value their company placed on women and their contribution to the country.
Meanwhile, Miss Solomon Islands and her delegation were still waiting for support from the government requested a few weeks ago.
This support was to help the delegation meet all their costs adequately while travelling and in Samoa.
Eight countries will participate this year: Cook Islands, Nauru, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga.
Pageant director Joyce Konofilia expresed confidence that Miss Solomon Islands Camilla Grossmith will perform to her best and wished to thank everyone who supported the Miss SI Pageant up to the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant both organizations and individuals.
“We promise to make our country proud,” she said.
