Dear Editor – Honiara city has changed landscape. Everyone would agree with me that this happened after most of the trees were cleared off.
It’s a sad sight to see some of the old long time standing Christmas tree from Solomon Water/MID to the Mission Place all gone.
They were chopped to make way for the road improvement project which is now underway.
For years these trees have provided shade for the public.
Now the public have no-where to rest under a tree share to from the heat of the sun.
While people may have mixed reaction over the development, some people believe trees are important as well.
However because of the so called development this happened.
Very soon the city will see an expanded road to cater for the increasing traffic problem.
On the other hand I’m happy with the Japanese government to support the development our city.
My only hope and wish is that once the road is completed, we need to have more trees replanted to provide shade for our public given the increasing heat each day during the fine weather.
