The Malaita Ma’asina Forum (MMF) has called on the acting commissioner of police Ms Juanita Matanga to let the court to decide on the case of Walter Kola’s recent involvement in a traffic accident.
MMF president Charles Dausabea said it is enough to try and blind the people of this nation about the internal investigations.
“What is so special about Kola and any ordinary citizen of this country involving in an accident? Who is Kola by the way? Does the law forbid penalising police executives if they involved in traffic accidents and only applies to ordinary citizens or junior police officers?” Dausabea questioned.
He stressed that people of this country are not stupid and blind by the actions and decisions taken by the office of the commissioner on its executives who have involved in traffic related accidents.
Dausabea said normal police traffic investigation should be carried to take Kola’s traffic offence to court to decide his fate and not the internal investigations that tries to cover the back of the police executives.
He questioned who introduce this internal investigation system whereby those executives involved in traffic accidents never appear in court for their case.
Stressing all citizens and foreigners alike are no different. Anyone breaking traffic rules have to appear in court to clear their innocence.
“I challenge the acting commissioner to do her job and allow the courts to decide on Kola’s fate. How many times will you going to suspend Kola? If this is the ongoing practice in the force why not apply it to other junior officers as well?” Dausabea further questioned.
He said MMF will be monitoring this case and awaits what is the outcome of this case because it does not look right someone who is shortlisted to be the police commissioner had his name already black listed.
