Outspoken pressure group, Malaita Ma’asina Forum (MMF) said it supports the Democratic Coalition for Change Government’s (DCC) policy statement.
President Charles Dausabea said although DCC is yet to settle in properly, their policy statement was encouraging.
“There was high expectation of a change, and now it has become a reality,” Mr Dausabea said.
He said the stand taken by the DCC government to prioritize developments on Malaita is welcomed.
“Developments on Malaita will surely ease problems in Honiara.
“Problems in Honiara are social and not criminal so that we can bring in police from other countries.
“And these social problems can only be address through the roadmap DCC is taking.”
Mr Dausabea said DCC should take off with one project at a time.
“We don’t have to start all the projects at once. Kicking off with one is enough to start the process.
“MMF then proposed that the Auluta Basin Palm Oil project be prioritized because of its capability to provide more employment opportunities and other avenues to benefit the people of Malaita.”
