Models taking part in the Solomon Fashion Week 2018 are gearing up for the show in November.
Young models as young 6 have been practicing for the cat walk for the past two Sundays.
Under the watchful eyes of the Founder of the Association of Solomon Islanders in Creative Fashion Justina Radclyffe, the models were quick to learn and adjust their techniques for the runway.
“We are training the models gearing up towards the Solomon Fashion Week in November from the 5th of November to the 10th which will be the grand finale which includes dinner and a show,” she said.
The weeklong event will start off with the Designer’s Exhibition at the SFW Show Room, Room 25 at the NPF Plaza.
Workshops for Sewing ‘Pinwheel Quilt’ and ‘Sewing Beach Bag’ is scheduled for the 2nd day at the Coral Sea Resort.
On Wednesday the 7th November, they are engaging Home Economics/Arts Students programs for schools to be followed by a Video Night of 2017’s Solomon Fashion Week show and a Fashion Show also to be held at the Coral Sea Resort.
Mrs Radclyffe said the grand finale will be on Saturday the 10th of November with a Gala Dinner and a 2 hour fashion show.
Failepou Peni Founder of Pacific International Runway in Sydney will be the guest speaker at this year’s event.
“We are really proud of how the SFW has reached new heights. Two designers have attended the Fiji Fashion Week and more recently one designer Frances Sophia Do’oro showcased her work at the Pacific London Fashion Show.
“We are also working towards establishing a fashion designing school to assist local designers and also we are thinking of working with Home Economic teachers from the various schools in town to join our Fashion Designing workshops for new ideas to teach in schools,” Mrs Radclyffe said.
