Leaders and representatives of Malaita Outer-Islands made a resolution on Thursday 23rd July 2015 to fully support the proposed Federal Government System.
They met in Honiara for the week-long awareness program on the 2nd 2014 Draft Federal Constitution of Solomon Islands last week.
Representatives from Luaniua, Pelau and Sikaiana islands made the resolution after intelligibly discussing sections within the proposed Draft Federal Constitution.
Participants attending the awareness meetings included church leaders, chiefs, elders, women, youths and officials working in the private and public sectors. They all unanimously passed the resolution concerning the proposed Federal Constitution.
Within the resolution the participants emphasised that it is very important for Solomon Islands to promptly replace the current unitary system of government, which has not met the development needs and aspirations of Malaita Outer-Islands people for 37 years.
The resolution was said to be made official and signed by the three MPAs of the MOI Wards, including chiefs, women, church and youth representatives who joined the awareness program.
The awareness program for MOI on the 2nd 2014 Draft successfully concluded at the SIBC conference venue on Friday 24th July.
