HONIARA City Council (HCC) law enforcement team had arrested some buses that did not purchase their business licenses on this week.
City Mayor, Andrew Mua confirmed this after the grace period for buses to buy their business license and follow the long bus routes had ended on Monday.
Mua said some of the buses continued to practice the short routes and did not buy their business licenses.
He said most of the buses were not locally owned.
“We found out that some owners of the buses have transferred their ownership to local people.
“While others have registered their buses under the name of their wives,” he added.
Mua urged buses owners to comply with the Council’s regulation because it is enforce now.
On Tuesday most of the buses were seen at Ranadi collecting the bus sign at one of the printing firms after registering their buses.
