MORE projects under the (Community Access Urban Strengthening and Enhancement) CAUSE Project aided by the World Bank are being earmarked for Gizo, Western Province this year.
That’s according to the Western Provincial Secretary (PS) Jeffrey Wickham on Thursday during the handing over of two new jetties for Gizo Market.
CAUSE has funded the two new jetties.
“We are so happy that CAUSE Project will continue to help and assist Gizo Township with some new projects and development.
He said work on the projects and new development will continue this year until 2024 when the project finally pulls out of the country.
He said some of the upcoming projects include;
- Shoreline upgrade of Gizo coastal township setting to prevent from high level of sea rise;
- Upgrading of new jetties at the Nusatupe Airstrip which poses threat to passengers when departing and arriving by aircraft;
- More concrete pavement especially for muddy roads.
- More Jacob’s ladders;
- Upgrading of the MSG building, construction of fencing and lock-up shops.
Wickham added the public in Gizo are very happy because there are a lot of changes happening in Gizo through the development which helps to
facelift the township.
The PS encourages everyone to be responsible and look after the projects.
