EIGHTY young people graduated from Youth@Work Auki last Friday after completing voluntary community services at various communities around Auki.This is the second Youth@work graduation held in Malaita.
Speaking at the graduation, guest of honour Pastor David Gurau praised the program,saying many of Malaita’s young people have benefited through business and community participation.
Mr Gurau said the Youth@Work program is giving many youths in Malaita the chance to involve in useful activities.
“I support the program because it addresses the need of active rural young boys and girls in Malaita province,” Mr Gurau said.
“MPs should take this initiative as part of youth community development in Malaita because I believe it will help improve standard of living in communities.”
Mr Gurau encouraged the graduates to go back and utilize the skills and knowledge they acquired from Youth@Work in their communities.
“If you do that, we will see changes in our communities and the province.
“You must trust yourself and be confident in what you do.”
A graduate Jack Robo, thanked the Australian government for funding the youth@work project, saying the program encourages and motivates them.
