TWO weeks after the 2024 academic year commenced and more high school students are still arriving at schools in the Western Province to commence classes.
The Western Provincial Capital of Gizo was packed Monday as more students arrived by ship from Honiara and outboard motors from other islands in the province to travel to their respective schools.
Last weekend, many lately accepted transfer students by various schools in Western Province arrived in Gizo by boats to travel on to their respective schools.
Some students arrived by MV Marina 2 on Sunday night and many more arrived onboard MV Fair Glory on Monday afternoon.
Others travelled into Gizo by outboard motor on Monday morning before catching the school boat to their respective schools on other islands.
Solomon Star witnessed students traveling in loaded boats to Buri Community High on Ranoggah, Jones Adventist College and RC Nicholason College on Vella as well as Kukudu School and Patupaele School on Kolombangara.
Some students could not travel to their respective schools on time due to financial constraints.
Some schools in Western Province last week announced that all students who were formally placed at their school but fail to turn up after two weeks will lose their space, unless prior arrangement is made.
One of the schools is JAC on Vella. Last week, it issued an advisory to all students who were yet to turn up for registration.
“Please be reminded that if you are two weeks late, you are kindly asked to come and register next week before the end of this month.
“Failure to do so will terminate your privilege to enrol this year and your space will be given to others who have applied.”
A similar advisory was also issued by Kukudu Adventist College (KAC) last week.
