There are a lot of improvements expected at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) that will transform the health services Secretary to Prime Minister Dr Jimmy Rodgers says.
He highlighted this in a talkback show on the national broadcaster-SIBC yesterday.
“At the NRH there is a lot of improvement coming, showing the transformation there both visually with new centres but also on service provision.
He said there is also expansion of services and reintroducing the private sectors throughout there because there are people who are preparing to pay but there are no such services.
He said there is a private hospital being built; it will be in full operation maybe in the second quarter next year.
The improved facilities will try to complement themselves for the higher level of care.
“The good news is there will be more diagnostic capabilities; the plan is some simple heart surgery we can do in Solomon Islands.
“Within two to three years we don’t need to refer the patient overseas and it will reduce costs for overseas referrals,” he said.
