More Malaitans are returning home this week from Honiara for the fear of contracting coronavirus (COVID-19) once it reaches Honiara.
This is evident in the increasing number of people traveling back to Malaita Province via ships over the past days.
According to observation, usually the month of March records low arrival from Honiara over the years.
However, this year the arrival during the month of March had been attributed to the threat posed by the deadly coronavirus which has reached other pacific nations.
With a most likely lock-down looming for Honiara city, it is expected that more Malaitans living in Honiara will make their way home on ships on the remaining days of the week.
Early this week, the Malaita Provincial Premier Daniel Suidani calls on Malaitans to return home and adapt self-reliance as the world is closing down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
