MAKIRA Province does not have enough man power to police the upcoming November 19 elections.
This was revealed by the Kirakira Police operation Manager Peter Sitai, in an interview.
Mr Sitai said according to information they received from the electoral office, Makira province has more than 80 polling stations compared to just around 40 police officers.
“We have received information that the province has more than 80 polling station compared to our very small man power. We have just over 40 officers here to provide security at the polling stations”.
Despite that, he said they have plans to ensure the election is secured and trouble-free.
“We only hope that the election will be a free event for everyone. We will be only providing security to areas where we think there would be threats.
“We already identified these places, and these were our targeted areas.”
