THE Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF) youSave team has registered a good number of youSave customers during the 2023 Malaita Day celebration in Honiara last week.
SINPF conducted two days of awareness during Malaita Province’s 40th Second Appointed Day Anniversary at the FOPA village in Panatina.
“The awareness started on Monday, 14th August to Tuesday, 15th, 2023. The awareness is targeting the formal sector and informal sector. Good number of students, retired officers came in good numbers to register in yousave and the working class enquires to update their NPF balances whether or not their employer still paid in their NPF contribution.
“The information sharing has attracted good number of the working class in Honiara asking questions and they’ve satisfied with responses from the youSave Officers.
“Hundreds of new youSave members who have registered to join youSave were impressed with youSave LoMobile because it is convenient for them to save their money through their Mobile at anytime and anywhere,” a statement from SINPF said.
SINPF’s Informal Sector Agent Network Officer, John Alepio Bana, during the awareness, appealed to the informal sector, particularly farmers, fishermen and market vendors must become members of the youSave.
“Little money you earn you must save it in youSave and a good benefit about the youSave is you will receive the same interest credited by SINPF to members account in the formal employment the same interest rate to youSave members,” Mr Bana said.
He said as prescribed under SINPF Act, the required age to join youSave is 16 years and above and therefore urged students at the venue to join youSave to prepare them for their savings for school fees and also savings for the future.
SINPF’s Employer Members Services Officer, Ellenson Maelanga said in the formal sector NPF is urging the working class to always update the status of their NPF contributions to ensure their employers comply with the SINPF law to pay their contributions in time.
She appealed to the formal sector, particularly the working class, to register with NPF.
“It is important to have NPF account because once you retired from formal employment the only saving you will use to start your own business to sustain you in the future is your NPF savings.”
