MAJOR sports events in Honiara have been called off since last week following the civil disturbance in the city.
The disturbances had led to rioting, looting and burning of shops.
Because of safety issues and fear many sportsmen and women have decided to take a break from sports games. Many just remain at home and do their private training.
Meanwhile, all the sports events which on scheduled for last week has been postponed until further notice from the police.
Some of the sports events which supposed to be held last week includes; Honiara netball association (HNA) semi finals, Umi cup championship semi finals, Honiara Football federation, (HFA) quarter finals and the official closing of the Telekom S-League, (TSL) 2021 season.
All sports event and matches will resume once police gives the ‘all clear’ advice.
