MORE than a hundred people have signed up as Telekom top-up agents in Malaita province recently.
The agents signed up during the launching of the 14 tower sites around the province to help ease the problem of communication.
Our Telekom’s prepaid top-up consultant Brain Lotikena said a problem that affected rural customers is with the lack of availability of top-up agents in rural communities.
“We have recognized that over the past years where people will have to go to Auki to get top-ups or asked relatives in Honiara for credits before making further calls.
“This is a real situation that is why we have to step in by selling out more top-up agents at reasonable price in the rural areas around the province,” Mr Lotikena said.
He believes by having more people signing up as top-up agents it would save time.
“This is one of the company’s goals in serving its customers living in the rural areas.
“Our Telekom is fully committed to serving its customers in the rural areas,” he said.
A customer Peter Ramoroai said that Our Telekom has made it easier for rural customers to make top-ups and make calls these days.
“In the past years, walk long distance to make calls and depend on our relatives in Auki and Honiara to give us credits. But now we have top-up agents in our rural communities,” Mr Ramoroai said.
