About 238 young people aged between 15 to 30 in and around Honiara Town have enrolled for the free business training facilitated by Youth At Work (YAW).
The training was held at YAW office at Art Gallery, Honiara.
The free business training was funded by AUSAID and managed by SPC through YAW office in Solomon Island.
The training aims to equip young people with business knowledge, how to operate and administer their own businesses will runs for almost seven weeks focusing on educational talks from successful business operators in Honiara and theory.
Youth At Work marketing coordinator Jino Oti told the Solomon Star yesterday said 238 young people have enrolled on Monday.
Mr Oti said more youths have shown interest in joining the free business training.
Because of the demand they can only get more than 200 youths for this training.
“Since we have 238 youths we have decided not to enrol any more youths.”
The first training kicked off on Monday right after the registration.
The training is being held every Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Because of the large numbers of youths the participants have been divided into two groups with some classes being conducted in the morning while others in the afternoon.
With more interest shown by the youths, a similar training is being planned sometime this year.
