SOLOMON Islands female tennis star Zorika Morgan has represented Solomon Islands at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) level 1 coaching course in Fiji.
ITF confirmed early last week that the Solomon Islands female tennis star, who scooped silver medal at the 17 Pacific Games in Honiara, is also part of the ITF level 1 coaching course.
The ITF level 1 coaching course is led and facilitated by dedicated ITF Coaching Expert Martin Setiawan.
The ITF level 1 coaching course brings together an incredible group of 11 enthusiastic participants from across the Pacific region, including Fiji, Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands (NMI), Papua New Guinea (PNG), Tonga and Solomon Islands.
The ITF level 1 coaching course is a significant step for tennis stars to enhance their coaching skills and to empower their local tennis communities.
ITF confirmed the other participants in the training include Moris Villanueva from NMI, Naomi Sipiti from Vanuatu, Marvin Soonalole, Eleanor Schuster and Rosie Tupuola from Samoa, Teufolau Huni and Reuel Lavaka from Tonga, Krishneel Kumar – a refresher and Lemeki Veimateyaki from Fiji and Matina Asimba and Omega Ivuyo from PNG.
According to ITF, Morgan is the only athlete representing Solomon Islands.
ITF said throughout this course, participants engaged in group coaching and individual coaching techniques, gaining essential skills to inspire the next generation of tennis players.
It said collaboration and camaraderie among these coaches are truly inspiring, adding that the participants are not just learning to coach, but also building connections that will strengthen tennis across the Pacific region.
The ITF level 1 coaching course was a significant step for the tennis stars as they are embarking on a journey to enhance their coaching skills to empower their local tennis communities.
