The Mother’s Day sports event organized by Paoa FM was successfully over the weekend,
It was staged at the SMI Area at Town Ground, West Honiara.
The annual event has proven to be a hit for many mothers especially the working ones who have taken time out from their busy schedule to be part of the event.
Mothers came out with their husbands, children, and friends to enjoy the day, it was reported.
A total of 24 mothers’ teams from business houses, clubs and women’s groups participated in the competition on Saturday.
The event was also blessed with a fine weather after many weeks of heavy rain.
For the third year running, this year’s theme was “A healthy mother, a healthy family.”
According to Paoa FM’s Andrew Glass, this mother’s day weekend in sports was about bringing together mothers from different companies, organizations and groups through sports.
He added it is not only about sports but also to bring mothers together and create friendship with other mothers, more importantly to take time out with sports fun and relax from their busy daily work.
The day’s event ended with the presentation of prizes.
The prizes for all three categories of soccer, netball and volleyball are 1st Prize – $3000.00 plus Trophy, 2nd Prize – $2000.00, 3rd Prize – $1500.00
Consolation prizes were also awarded to teams and individuals.
Paoa FM has acknowledged Solrais Co. Ltd, Bowmans Hardware, National Fisheries Development (NFD), Ideka Hardware, Bishop Brothers, Ela Motors, Tropic Glass& Aluminium (TGA), AJ Hardware, Central Developments Ltd, Victory Trading Ltd, Soltuna Ltd, Pan Oceanic Bank, Pizza Petes, Big 3 Distributors, Szetu Enterprises Ltd and Island Clothing who sponsored the prizes.
A similar event is expected to be staged next year.
