THE Western Provincial Government under the leadership of Premier Billy Veo is facing leadership challenge as a potential motion of no confidence against his regime.
Sources close to the move have revealed to Solomon Star this week that a group of non-executive government members are considering a motion to be tabled during the upcoming Full Assembly meeting.
The group cited the non-effectiveness of Veo’s leadership as the reason for its action.
According to an inside source, the decision to remove Premier Veo stemmed from a perceived lack of capacity to efficiently govern the province.
The source asserted that the people of the Western Province are seeking a change in leadership for the sake of better governance.
“He has no capacity to run the province, and the people of the Western Province want a new leadership that can truly serve their interests,” the source claimed.
It has been noted that a significant number of non-executive members are currently in Gizo, attending to various business matters related to the province.
One of the key events is the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meeting, in preparation for the upcoming Assembly Meeting scheduled for next month.
As these rumours circulated, the public is keenly observing the motives behind the potential motion of no confidence and the potential outcomes of this serious matter.
The allegations against Premier Billy Veo are expected to spark discussions about the state of governance in the Western Province and the necessity for a change in leadership.
Premier Veo has been elected as a new Premier of Western Province in early January 2023.
This year marks his first year in office.
While it remains to be seen whether the motion will materialize, the political landscape in the Western Province is undoubtedly becoming more intense, and citizens are eagerly awaiting further developments in this unfolding story.
Premier Veo could not be reached for comment on Friday.
