A 25-year-old motocross rider died at the National Referral Hospital early this morning from injuries sustained when his motor bike hit a car at Kukum on Sunday.
According to eye-witnesses, the accident happened around 1pm at the junction into Kukum Police Station.
They said the bike was travelling at high speed on the highway when it hit the front of a car which was turning into the road to Kukum Police Station.
The collision threw the rider more than 10 metres out of his bike, causing the rider to sustained fractures to his leg and hip.
The rider, who is said to be from Guadalcanal Province, was rushed to the National Referral Hospital but later died.
The driver of the car has since been apprehended by police for questioning.
Police are yet to confirm if any charges will be laid against the driver of the car.
