Member of Parliament (MP) for Temotu Vatu Freedah Tuki Soriacomua rubbishes claims made by her election rivals, who resort to criminal attitudes to disturb the constituency project to develop a growth centre in Vanikoro.
It was reported to this paper that Member of Parliament (MP) for Temotu Vatu Fredah Tuki Soriacomua is aligning with Ngu brothers to hire their machines for clearing the site earmarked to develop the constituency growth centre in Vanikoro, earlier this month.
The report also hinted that these were the same loggers who breached court orders to unload its logging machines in West Guadalcanal.
Report stated that they were chased out from Vanikoro after they attempted to enter the island, with their excavators to do illegal logging.
Meanwhile, Provincial Police Commander (PPC) for Temotu Frank Menesa said the landing craft that carries the equipments to develop the growth centre in Vanikoro was not allowed by some people in the island to berth on shore.
He said the landing craft is currently berthing in Lata, the provincial headquarter of Temotu province, while waiting for the dispute to resolve.
Responding with great disappointment Freda Tuki said the issue of dispute here comes from her old foes that rival against her, since she became the MP for Temotu Vatu in the last election.
She claimed the Honiara City Council member for Ngossi ward Andrew Mua and former MP for Temotu Vatu Clay Forau initiated all the moves to disturb her development programs in her constituency, particularly Vanikoro Island.
She alleged these two men hired a group of men from Reef Island to block them from unloading their machines on Vanikoro to develop the growth centre there.
She said these people from rRef armed with knives, stones, bow and arrows and petrol bomb in an attempt to attack them once the landing craft landed on the shore.
The only female MP said these people has hate her from the beginning since she won the Temotu vatu election and even plot to kill her today.
She told the Solomon Star that their trip was to develop the constituency growth centre and not for logging activities as alleged by her rivals.
She clarified that Derrick Ngu owned the landing craft she hired to transport the machines and those machines on board were owned by different people and not Ngu brothers as alleged.
She further clarified that the machines like damp truck and excavator will use to clear the site since it is a swamp area, where grounds and stones would be transported to reclaim the swamp land.
Tuki also said the area is very small for logging activities and they have no intention to do logging.
She added that trees that worth milling for timbers would be used to develop the growth centre and not for export as alleged, by people who hated her for the past election result in Temotu Vatu.
She pointed out that the constituency growth centre is for everyone regardless of skin color this development is for the people of Temotu Vatu, who will benefit from the infrastructures planned in the area that will pave way for the township intended for the area.
