A Member of Parliament (MP) and a Minister of the Crown has condemned the work of the public sector, labelling it as corrupt, irresponsible and needs overhaul.
The Cabinet Minister who declined to have his name revealed stated he is sick of how plenty of these educated and experienced public servants were irresponsible in implementing their work, since greed, jealousy and pride led them astray to become problems to the system, rather than serving the country and its people.
“Now I just realised why this country never progress in development because the government authorities responsible in handling funds abused these money, as a result grassroots who have their names tag with development projects received nothing at all,” he said. “Worse to that, is service delivery by these Ministries are very poor and hopeless,” he added.
He also said, public officers at the higher level manipulated everything in the Ministry to happen in their favour, which is motivated by their appetite for accessing public fund already committed for other purposes.
“This greedy attitude must stop and if it can’t then officers need to quit the job so that people with good manners, values and principles of honesty could do the work,” he said.
He further claimed that high ranking public servants with higher education background and many years of work experiences are of no use because of greedy filled with jealousy, pride and self-centred mindset.
He further stated by giving examples in his Ministry where some of the officers headed all departments have become a virus to the work of the government that aims to alleviate poverty and improve living standard of people.
The Minister concluded by stating that he wants the DCC government to look at this virus seriously and put a stop to it, or else this country will achieve nothing from huge funds committed for development.
