POLICE had interviewed the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ulawa/Ugi, William Marau last week over alleged misuse of housing project funds in his consistency, Police Chief Mostyn Mangau told reporters Thursday.
Mr. Mangau said the MP’s file will be finalized and then sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for sanction and advice before police can press charges.
He made this confirmation at his weekly police conference yesterday when asked by a reporter if the police had interviewed the MP last week.
“We interviewed the MP, it is part of the investigation,” Mr. Mangau said.
“The details of interview will be provided later,” he added.
When asked again what the investigation is related to, Mr. Mangau said it is in relation to misuse of housing project funds.
Mr. Mangau said the matter was reported to Police by Members of the MP’s constituency.
“The Janus Task-force is still active, still alive and still progressing its work,” he said when asked if Janus is still active and alive.
