Member of Parliament (MP) for Small Malaita Constituency (SMC) Rick Hou has successfully concluded his first constituency visit for this year, on 14 February.
The visit was to inform communities and constituents of the Constituency’s four-year Development Plan (CDP) for 2024-2028 including priority programs and activities.
During the tour he also held consultations with landowners and tribal members on the constituency’s road infrastructure projects which covers the Paeni-Waloa’a-Ro’one road and the Afio-Matangasi road segments.

Feedbacks from the consultations will help the constituency office to draw up and finalize its Annual Work Plan (AWP) to guide the implementation of its 2025 CDF priorities.
The road infrastructures once successfully implemented and completed will help to provide land transport services and connectivity for farmers and communities to Afio Station to access important services such as market, police station, shops, fisheries centre, medical services, wharves and other available services.
MP Hou also used the opportunity to brief constituents, chiefs, landowners, church leaders, community leaders and communities of the constituency office intention under his guidance to develop the constituency in the next four years.
He also highlighted a number of projects earmarked for the constituency during his tenure in office.

Many leaders of the communities and constituents he met expressed their support to the plan and their desire to see transformative development happening in their communities.
The tour which covered communities in Asimae and Asimeuri Wards also coincided with a series of awareness programs on the Constituency Development Funds Act 2023 facilitated by officers from the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) for SMC communities and constituents.
MP Hou was accompanied by a team from his constituency office and MRD.
He returned to Honiara on Monday 17 February.
