CONSTITUENTS of Central Kwara’ae, Malaita Province, have called on their MP Jackson Filaua to explain why he had only provided assistance to certain communities while the rest of the people have been left high and dry.
The concern was raised following recent distribution of roofing iron to residents of Fulisango community, about 10 kilometers from the provincial capital Auki.
One concerned constituent, who wants to remain anonymous, said it appears the MP was concentrating his assistance specifically to his voters only while those who have voted other contestants in the last national general elections have been purposely ignored.
He pointed out that since public funds used by parliamentarians to provide assistance to their respective constituents are intended for everyone in the constituency, it is totally an injustice to ignore providing assistance to none voters of the seating MP.
He said people who voted for other candidates who lost the elections were merely exercising their democratic rights of freedom of choice under the Democratic governance system the country adopts.
He calls on Mr Filaua to exercise fairness to everyone by reaching out with assistance to everyone in his constituency instead of those who voted for him in the national general elections.
Mr Filaua could not be reached for comment on the claims.
