THE Member of Parliament (MP) for Ranoggah-Simbo Constituency in the Western Province has vowed to work with his electorate to deliver the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during his term in office.
MP Wayne Ghemu, who is the Minister of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening (MPGIS) was contributing to the Sine Die Motion in Parliament last week.
“To my people of Ranoggah and Simbo Constituency, I assure you to work with you to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals to our constituency,” MP Ghemu said.
In pursuit of meeting the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), all member countries, including Solomon Islands, are working to address challenges and issues related to water, sanitation, education, health, communication, human rights and so forth by the deadline.
In his speech, MP Ghemu thanked the people of RANOSI, especially the voters, for entrusting the honour to him as their MP in the 12th Parliament.
“I’m grateful for the support,” he said.
He also expressed pride of the fact that RANOSI has contributed important human resources to the nation and the constituency will continue to do that.
“One of our sons was once a Prime Minister (PM) from 1993 to 1994,” he said in reference to Sir Francis Billy Hilly.
MP Ghemu said RANOSI people are peaceful, loving, resilient, hardworking and silent achievers.
“I stand here today as one of the sons of RANOSI,” he said.
He thanked all the chiefs, elders, mothers, children, youths and people of RANOSI for their support.
He also thanked the former MP Charles Sigoto for his contribution and strong leadership during his tenure.
MP Ghemu vowed to support his constituency this year.
In an interview with few constituents of Ranoggah last weekend, some of them are looking forward for what the new MP will deliver for the two islands during his term as the people of RANOSI have been calling for change.
