THE Malaita provincial government (MPG) will address the rubbish issue in Auki Malaita province as soon as it locates a land space for proper dumpsite.
Malaita Premier Peter Chanel Ramohia told this paper in an interview over the weekend.
He was responding to calls made by Auki concern citizens over piles of rubbish thrown in front of the Auki new market.
Mr Ramohia said, that his government is committed to address the rubbish issue in Auki.
“Lack of a good dumpsite in Auki was the problem to address the situation.
“But my government will work hard to consult with landowners for any land space to build a proper dumpsite for Auki.”
Mr Ramohia appeals to landowners to spare a land space to cater for a dumpsite in Auki.
Currently Auki town council is using an area near Rarasu motel to dump off rubbish.
