THE Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) has boosted its headquarters (HQ) workforce in Honiara with a fresh round of new recruits to support service delivery to the people of the 50 constituencies across the country.
The new officers were recruited from the MRD’s recent recruitment activity.
The officers, who have been assigned work in various Divisions and Units in the Ministry are Gordon Sipa – Principal Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, Manasseh Masa’a – Principal Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, Noelyn Lausu’u – Principal Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, Tex Bambu – Principal Planning & Implementation Officer and Solomon Junior Buarafi – Principal Planning & Implementation Officer.
MRD Human Resource Manager Olive Maezama, when welcoming the new recruits, congratulated them for the opportunity to join MRD and wished them well in their new responsibilities.
She said the new officers are a boost to the ministry’s workforce.
“The experience and capability they bring is a bonus and will surely help the Ministry to best deliver its key mandates and functions, support constituency development program implementations and policy priorities towards enhancing delivery of services to the rural people of Solomon Islands.”
Ms Maezama added that the recruitment is part of the fundamental reforms that the ministry is undertaking to guarantee an efficient and effective service delivery to citizens.
An induction for the new recruits was held fortnight ago.
The Ministry of Rural Development is one of the 24 ministries within the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) machinery.
Established on the 28September 2007, its core mandates as contained under Legal Notice 164 in accordance with the Constitution of Solomon Islands is to oversee the effective planning and implementation of Government’s Rural Development Policy with the core functions focusing more on coordinating the work of fifty (50) Constituencies in terms of Constituency Development Programmes for rural development and growth to improve rural people’s livelihoods.
