Finance and Accounts officers of the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) today (Wednesday 27 July 2022) undergo an awareness session facilitated by the Ministry of Finance and Treasury (MoFT) project team on the government’s new Financial Management Information System (FMIS), Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
FMIS upgrade project was initiated in 2019 to upgrade the Solomon Islands Government’s (SIG’s) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system from Microsoft Dynamics AX to Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
Treasury is leading the Upgrade with Funding assistance from the Australian Government through DFAT.
The awareness presentation provided by the FMIS project team enabled officers to learn how the SIG’s new payment system operates and at the same time better their knowledge in preparation ahead of the series of hands-on training that will be facilitated by MoFT FMIS project team in the coming days.
The new ERP system, D365 was commissioned in October 2021 and went live with the largest four Government Ministries (Group one) namely Ministry of Finance and Treasury (MOFT), Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD), Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) and Ministry of Police National Security and Correctional Services (MPNSCS).
As an introduction to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), the MoFT project team were able to go through with MRD officers on the new Chart of Accounts, procurement process workflow, benefits, challenges and the importance of the project (FMIS).
MRD is the next ministry to go-live with the new payment system soon.
Deputy Secretary Technical (DST) Hugo Hebala while acknowledging the MoFT team for the important awareness presentation said that MRD is looking forward to utilizing the new payment system.
First training for the MRD requisition officers is planned for tomorrow (Thursday 28th July 2022).
The MoFT FMIS project team includes Project Manager Gordon Denty, Steve Nunumae and Suzanne Orudiana.
