THE Ministry for Health and Medical Service (MHMS) next priority is to reposition the Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) across the country.
The recent arrival of PPEs from China including machines and cartridges for Gene X-pert equipment has already been handed over to the responsible authority and government agencies that are responsible to deliver.
MHMS Minister Dickson Mua said the next priority now is to get these supplies into a pre-positioning location across the country.
“A concept paper for screening and treatment centre plan and deployment has been approved by MHMS which will inform the standards and emergency arrangements for medical management of COVID-19 in Honiara and surrounding Guadalcanal Province,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development (MID), as well as the Ministry of Finance and Treasury (MOFT), have already received the Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) from China Harbor Engineering Company SI Ltd on Friday 24th April 2020.
The PPEs included temperature kits, 2,000 masks, and 100 gloves each.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development, Minister Manasseh Maelanga thanked China Harbor Company SI Ltd for the support and offers of medical equipment which would help MID front liners especially those working at the quarantine stations.
The MID Permanent Secretary Stephen Maesiola also raised similar sentiments saying that the protective equipment will definitely be used to protect their staff when out on the field carrying out their work.
“This will be used by our front line officers who will be checking the quarantine centers, electrical faults, plumbing system, and other minor repairs that need to be done at the quarantine centers,” PS Maesiola said.
