TOURISM Operators in Munda Western Province are preparing to form a tourism association after a one day fruitful meeting held with the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) board chairman on Friday last week.
The meeting was held at the Agnes Lodge where about 15 operators within Munda and Rendova were able to attend the meeting.
SIVB hardworking board chairman, Wilson Ne’e who held talks with the operators on Friday at Munda told the Solomon Star yesterday that Munda operators are preparing to form a tourism association.
“We had a very good discussion on Friday about tourism issues there for operators within Munda and Rendova Islands.
“The discussion was aimed to mould tourism operators and encouraged them to form tourism association to work closely with SIVB and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism,” Mr Ne’e said.
He said,tomorrow operators will meet and talk about forming tourism association for Munda/Rendova tourism operators.
The SIVB chairman said,for so long Munda/Rendova tourism operators are without a tourism association and during last week’s meeting the operators have agreed to form an association.
Mr Ne’e added Munda is one of the tourism priority areasin Western province.
“Munda is one of the top priority tourism areas in Solomon Islands because very soon Munda international airport will be hosting international visitors.
“Therefore, SIVB and MCT are working in partnership to start organising operators there because Munda will become an entry point for internationals visitors,” he said.
Mr Ne’e thanked all the operators who have attended Friday’s discussion and hopes more meeting will be held.
